    :

I purchased a set from Behind Bars and installed them last spring to mount a pair of Denali D2 LED lights on the engine guard bars on my BMW R1200RT. They looked good and all was well until I noticed that the light mounts were loose where they attach to the ring mounts which actually attach to the bars. I r/r the light mounts to the ring mounts and used high-quality marine silicone. This worked for a while.

I complained to Techmount twice in emails and after several months I got a reply and a replacement pair. Again, all was well – for a month or so – and then the same problem occurred. The right side mount was again loose. Then, a few days ago I went for a short ride and after first noticing that the right light was not reflecting in the bumper of the car ahead of me, I looked down to see the light hanging by its wire…. completly out of the ring mount… still attached to the light mount.
I backed the set screw out and reinstalled the mount with a quantity of silicon adhesive. I’m thinking that some hard epoxy will be needed and will do that when the weather warms up.

I think the design of the attachment of the light mount to the ring mount seems good, but either the material wears or the machining is poor. The BMW does have some engine vibration – what large displacement twin doesn’t – anyway, I can’t recommend these mounts.
